Reverse description A dramatic aerial scene depicting Avro Lancaster B. III heavy bombers in formation flight, traversing a sky filled with bursting anti-aircraft flak during a bombing mission over Nazi Germany in the Second World War. The composition, engraved by Glen Loates (initials GL), conveys motion and tension through finely detailed rendering of the aircraft fuselages, engine nacelles, and exploding shell bursts in the surrounding field. The years 1939 and 1945 appear below the central design, flanking the lower portion of the scene. The upper legend reads THE BOMBING WAR - LES BOMBARDEMENTS, and CANADA 2017 is inscribed along the lower arc.
