Obverse description Selectively gold-plated effigy of King George V facing left, wearing the Imperial State Crown and robes of state adorned with floral emblems, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The surrounding legend reads GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND: IMP: in raised Latin lettering along the upper periphery, with the denomination 20 DOLLARS inscribed along the lower rim. A fine beaded border frames the entire design. The portrait is modelled after the classic effigy used on Canadian coinage during the reign of George V.
