At centre, a Black soldier stands at attention in full uniform on railway tracks, symbolising the battalion's labour in building vital military infrastructure. To his right, additional soldiers in period dress are depicted in motion, evoking the battalion's active service. In the left field, an engraved shield bearing the battalion's insignia and the inscription 'No. 2 Construction' is prominently displayed, set against a background of coniferous trees and stacked timber referencing the forestry work performed in France.
