| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features a richly detailed commemorative scene honouring No. 2 Construction Battalion, Canada's first and only all-Black battalion of the First World War. At centre, a Black soldier stands at attention in full uniform on railway tracks, symbolising the battalion's labour in building vital military infrastructure. To his right, additional soldiers in period dress are depicted in motion, evoking the battalion's active service. In the left field, an engraved shield bearing the battalion's insignia and the inscription 'No. 2 Construction' is prominently displayed, set against a background of coniferous trees and stacked timber referencing the forestry work performed in France. The legend CANADA arcs across the upper field, with the engraver's initials KD appearing in the lower right field. |
