| Descrizione del dritto | A raised circular coin panel is set into the obverse face of the sculpture-shaped planchet. Within the panel, the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, diademed and draped, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left and COOK ISLANDS along the upper right, with the denomination 20 DOLLARS inscribed in the lower field. Below the circular panel, the individual serial number and the edition year 2020 are incused directly onto the flat gold-plated surface of the sculptural piece. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse presents a three-dimensional sculptural rendering, in high relief, of Michelangelo's celebrated marble masterpiece the Madonna of Bruges (c. 1501–1504). The Virgin Mary is depicted seated, veiled and draped in flowing robes, holding a book in her left hand, while the Christ Child stands upright between her knees, his curly hair and infant form rendered with remarkable plastic detail. The entire composition is finished in gold plating, faithfully replicating the monumental character and serene gravitas of the original sculpture housed in the Church of Our Lady in Bruges, Belgium. The shaped planchet follows the silhouette of the seated figures, giving the piece the appearance of a miniature three-dimensional statue. |
