In the lower portion of the design, a circular inset panel bears the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait, surrounded by the legend ELIZABETH II and COOK ISLANDS. The twin lancet windows and a diamond-shaped rose light above are filled with richly colored stained-glass scenes, depicting the Three Kings and associated biblical figures in the medieval pictorial tradition of the early sixteenth century. The lower register features a decorative frieze of Gothic quatrefoil ornament in relief, beneath which a dark plaque bears the inscriptions MASTERPIECES OF CRAFTS and COLOGNE CATHEDRAL in raised lettering.
