| Obverse description | The obverse features an architectural framework in high relief replicating the ornate Baroque façade of Berlin Cathedral, with flanking pilasters, carved cherubs, and a cross motif above the date 2017 at the top. At the center is a large rectangular colored insert depicting a luminous stained-glass window scene of the Nativity, with the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child at center, surrounded by angels and attendant figures rendered in warm amber and golden tones. At the lower portion of the coin, within a circular cartouche, appears the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as engraved by Ian Rank-Broadley, with the surrounding legend ELIZABETH II COOK ISLANDS and the denomination 20 DOLLARS. |
