| 背面描述 | A finely detailed depiction of an 18th-century Baltimore Clipper under full sail occupies the central field, the twin-masted schooner shown underway on stylized waves with all sails billowed and rigging rendered in precise relief. The central design is framed within an oval rope border with decorative corner elements, itself set within a milled inner border. A scrolled ribbon cartouche at the top bears the legend BALTIMORE CLIPPER, while a second scrolled cartouche at the base carries the inscription 18th CENTURY. The denomination $20 appears to the right of the vessel in the field. |

The Baltimore Clipper was not a specific vessel but a hull form — a sharp-bowed, two-masted schooner design developed in the Chesapeake Bay region in the late 18th century, refined specifically for speed over cargo capacity. Extensively used for privateering during the War of 1812, the type later found less reputable employment in the illegal slave trade, where speed past naval interdiction patrols mattered more than anything else.
The British Virgin Islands issued numerous silver pieces under this sailing ships series around 2000, most struck by the Pobjoy Mint under Royal Warrant.
