The 2010 issue belongs to a series the Central Bank of the Bahamas rolled out in stages following the 2000–2001 redesign program — P#74A represents a later printing run rather than the inaugural year of the design. Canadian Bank Note Company has handled Bahamian currency production for decades, making Ottawa the consistent source for the archipelago's notes across multiple generations of issue.
The $20 denomination circulates actively in the Bahamas, which maintains a one-to-one peg with the U.S. dollar — a fixed rate in place since 1973 and enforced through currency controls that prohibit the Bahamian dollar from trading internationally. That peg removes exchange rate pressure but makes domestic inflation management entirely dependent on U.S. monetary policy.
