正面描述 The obverse presents a multicolour green and yellow guilloche underprint with a vertical holographic stripe along the left margin carrying the bilingual Bank of Canada / Banque du Canada wordmark. An intaglio portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is positioned to the left of centre, with a matching watermark portrait visible in the adjacent clear area when held to light. The central vignette renders a detailed front elevation of the Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa, with a Canadian flag vignette to the upper right and bilingual denomination and legal tender inscriptions completing the design.

备注

The BC-64 series was the last Canadian issue to use a predominantly paper substrate before the polymer transition that began in 2011. This particular note had a troubled public reception almost immediately: in 2012, reports emerged that the metallic holographic stripe was susceptible to damage from common household chemicals, including certain cleaning products, which prompted the Bank of Canada to accelerate its already-planned move to polymer.

Jorge Peral's dual credit as both designer and engraver is unusual for a modern Canadian issue — a reflection of how much intaglio work had consolidated into fewer hands by the mid-2000s.
