| 表面の説明 | The quartered shield of Andorra, surmounted by a mural crown, occupies the left portion of the field. To the right of the shield, a five-line legend identifies the co-prince Joan D.M. as Bishop of Urgell and Prince of Andorra. The denomination '20 D.' appears in large numerals below the shield, with the date '1991' beneath it in the lower field. |

Andorra began issuing its own coinage only in 1976, centuries after the co-principality had functioned without a domestic currency — using French francs and Spanish pesetas interchangeably. The 1991 Games of the Small States of Europe, hosted in Andorra la Vella, gave the government a ready occasion for a commemorative series, and several denominations were struck in this .925 silver specification to coincide with the event.
Joan Martí i Alanis served as Episcopal Co-Prince from 1971 to 2003, one of the longest tenures in that office.
