The Nicaraguan Coat of Arms occupies the center, rendered as a circular vignette enclosing a triangle with five volcanoes and a radiant cap of liberty above the sea, surrounded by the legend REPÚBLICA DE NICARAGUA — AMÉRICA CENTRAL. Denomination numerals "20" appear in ornate cartouches at left and right, with VEINTE CÓRDOBAS in a solid panel at the foot of the note.
