Obverse description Seated allegorical figure of the French Republic facing left, wearing a radiate crown and classical drapery, holding an upright fasces in her raised right hand while resting her left arm on a throne or plinth; a sheaf of grain appears to the left and an anchor to the lower right, symbolizing agriculture and maritime commerce. The engraver's signature BARRE appears in small lettering along the lower exergual line, with the date 1920 prominently struck in the exergue. The surrounding legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE runs along the upper periphery within a beaded border.
