Obverse description Seated allegorical figure of Marianne, representing the French Republic, facing left upon a raised throne, wearing a radiate crown and classical draped robes, raising a fasces upright in her right hand while her left arm rests upon the throne's armrest. A sheaf of vegetation appears to the lower left of the figure. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE runs along the periphery, divided left and right of the effigy, with the date 1919 prominently displayed in the exergue and the engraver's name BARRE incused along the lower exergual line.

Reverse description Central denomination 20 CENT. displayed in two lines within the field, enclosed by a laurel and oak wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow and flanked by crossed branches. The circular legend INDO-CHINE FRANÇAISE arcs across the upper periphery, while the lower periphery bears the inscriptions TITRE 0.835. POIDS 5 GR. specifying the standard fineness and weight. A counterstamp of 0.700 appears punched into the left interior of the wreath, representing a purity alteration struck over the original 0.835 titre, and the Paris mint mark A appears at the base of the wreath interior.
