| Reverse description | A platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) is depicted swimming dynamically across the field, its body rendered in fine relief amid stylised water ripples and lily-pad forms that convey aquatic movement. The duck-billed head and webbed forefeet of the animal are prominently shown in the lower portion of the design. The large numeral '20' occupies the upper right of the field, serving as the denomination indicator. The engraver's initials 'SD' (Stuart Devlin) appear incuse on the platypus's bill area at left.
