| Obverse description | Central device features the radiant Sun of May, depicted as a human face surrounded by alternating straight and wavy rays emanating boldly across the field. The sun motif, a national symbol of Uruguay, occupies the majority of the coin's face and is executed in high relief. A toothed border frames the design.
