Obverse description Cast brass cash coin featuring a central square perforation flanked by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform reading order. The character 咸 (Xian) appears at the top, 豐 (Feng) at the bottom, 重 (Zhong) to the right, and 寶 (Bao) to the left, together reading Xianfeng Zhongbao, meaning 'Precious Currency of the Xianfeng Era.' The legends are boldly rendered in a formal brushwork style against a flat, unadorned field, with no rim decoration. The inner and outer rims are plain and well-defined, framing the inscription in the traditional cash coin format.
