KM#28 is a mule — the obverse die of the 1359 AH (1940) Said bin Taimur coinage paired with a reverse from a different denomination issue, then restruck at a later date. Oman's coinage history of this period is complicated by irregular official restrikes produced well after the nominal date, making it difficult to establish when examples actually entered circulation — or whether they did at all.
The British Indian currency it was designed to supplement remained dominant in Muscat through the 1940s.
