| Obverse description | The Somali national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a heraldic shield charged with horizontal lines and a five-pointed star, supported by two leopards rampant on either side, with crossed spears and a palm frond issuing from below. The legend SOMALI REPUBLIC arcs along the upper periphery within a beaded border, while the date 20 05 is divided and placed at either side of the shield in the middle field. The denomination 20.000 SHILLINGS appears as a curved legend along the lower periphery, also within the beaded border. |

| Reverse description | A detailed architectural rendering of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem dominates the central field, depicted in three-quarter frontal perspective showing the ornate facade with arched windows, decorative tilework, and colonnaded portico. The iconic dome, embellished with applied Swarovski crystal elements simulating the gilded surface, rises prominently above the octagonal drum, crowned by a crescent finial. A green Swarovski crystal component is inset at the central doorway of the building. The Arabic legend الإسراء والمعراج (Isra and Mi'raj) curves along the upper field, while قبة الصخرة (Dome of the Rock) is inscribed in larger script below the structure, and من المسجد الحرام إلى المسجد الأقصى (From Al Masjid Al Haram to Al Masjid Al Aqsa) appears along the lower field. |
