The large Gothic-script denomination 'Zwanzig Millionen Mark' occupies the centre, above which the heading 'NOTGELD / FÜR DEN STADT- U. LANDKREIS GELSENKIRCHEN' is set in roman capitals. At the foot, two circular official seals flank the authorisation text and date 'Gelsenkirchen, den 21.
