The circular legend around the periphery reads 2 THALER VII EINE F MARK 3 1/2 GULDEN, with rosette separators flanking the lower field. The legend VEREINS 1850 MÜNZE is inscribed along the lower arc, referencing the German monetary union (Vereinsmünze) standard and the date of issue.
