To the left of the figure, a crested helmet rests upon a plinth. The entire composition stands upon a raised platform or socle. In the lower field beneath the platform, a two-line inscription in the exergue reads X • EINE • FEINE • MARK •, indicating the coin's silver fineness standard of one-tenth of a fine Cologne mark.
