The double thaler format at this weight places it among the larger presentation-grade issues of the period, likely struck for diplomatic or ceremonial purposes rather than routine commerce. Surviving examples from this two-year emission window are seldom encountered, and the Davenport attribution reflects its acknowledged importance to the German States thaler series.
