Reverse description A finely detailed depiction of the monument to Grand Duke Karl Friedrich of Baden, erected in his memory by his successor Leopold I. The statue of Karl Friedrich stands atop a tall neoclassical pedestal mounted on a broad stepped base, flanked at the base by two allegorical female figures in relief. The surrounding legend curves along the upper field, while the fineness designation appears in the lower exergual area below the monument. The composition conveys the grandeur of 19th-century public commemorative sculpture.
