| 裏面の説明 | Central field bearing the date in Arabic numerals, here illustrated by the example dated 1792, accompanied by a Sinhala inscription below denoting the local equivalent denomination. The numerals and Sinhala characters are set within a beaded inner circle, above which appear a row of ornamental pellets arranged in an arc. The overall composition is enclosed by a continuous beaded border following the contour of the irregular hammered flan. The reverse design reflects the bilingual nature of VOC coinage intended for circulation among the local Sinhalese population of Ceylon. |
