| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the large interlaced VOC monogram of the Dutch East India Company, with the chamber letter 'G' (for Galle) positioned above and the denomination numeral '2' below the cipher. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border, itself set within a plain outer border. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular, roughly octagonal flan typical of hammered VOC coinage struck at the Galle mint in Ceylon. The relief is bold and the monogram occupies nearly the full diameter of the flan. |
