| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central design features an ornate floriated long cross with trefoil or fleur-de-lis terminals at each arm, the cross extending nearly to the inner beaded circle. Four decorative lis-like motifs occupy the angles between the arms of the cross, and a small central lozenge or pellet rosette is positioned at the crossing. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial lettering carries the devotional inscription beginning SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTVM, separated by annulet stops, running around the full circumference within a beaded border. |

Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy and Count of Holland, issued this piece during the final years of his reign — he died in June 1467. The County of Holland operated under Burgundian control from 1433, when Philip inherited it through his mother Margaret of Bavaria's line, consolidating it into his sprawling Low Countries dominions. Currency reform was a persistent concern for Philip across his territories, and the standardization of denominations across Holland, Zeeland, and Brabant was an ongoing administrative project throughout the 1450s and 1460s.
GH#8-4 places this squarely among the final Holland stiver-denominated issues before his son Charles the Bold inherited and further restructured Low Countries minting.
