Additional information

The Isle of Man has issued sovereign-sized gold pieces under its own authority since the 1970s, operating outside the Royal Mint's production remit — a quirk that has made Manx sovereigns a persistent oddity in British-format gold collecting. This 2022 piece marks Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, her 70th year on the throne, an anniversary no other British monarch has reached. She died in September of that year, making jubilee issues from 2022 the last commemoratives produced during her lifetime.
