| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse depicts the Hanoverian Royal Arms of George IV, faithfully reproduced after the original design used on the sovereign coinage of the 1820s. The quartered shield displays the arms of England (three lions passant guardant), Scotland (lion rampant), Ireland (harp), and Hanover (incorporating the crowns and horse of Brunswick, Lüneburg, and Westphalia with the crown of Charlemagne), the last quarter bearing an escutcheon of the Hanoverian arms surmounted by a crown. The ornate cartouche-style shield is surmounted by the Royal Crown, and is flanked by decorative baroque scroll mantling. The surrounding Latin legend reads ARMA GEORGII IV BRITANNIARUM REGIS, disposed along the left and right periphery of the field. |
