Obverse description The heraldic shield of the House of Oldenburg occupies the central field, displaying the characteristic barry of nine argent and gules associated with the dynasty. The escutcheon is surmounted by a royal crown rendered in low relief. The piece exhibits the characteristic crudely cut lozenge-shaped flan typical of siege klippings, with the design struck off-centre on the irregular planchet. No peripheral legend is present, consistent with the emergency nature of this issue produced during Christian II's siege of Oslo.
