| Descrizione del dritto | Central field features the Danish royal coat of arms displayed on a shield bearing three passant lions above nine hearts, rendered in the late medieval heraldic style typical of the mid-sixteenth century. The shield is framed by an inner beaded border. The circumferential legend, reading clockwise in Gothic-influenced Latin capitals, is interrupted at the top by a decorative foliate or fleur-de-lis ornament and reads CHRISTIANVS·3·D:G·DANIE, identifying the issuer as Christian III, King of Denmark by the Grace of God. The die work is characteristic of hammered coinage of the Copenhagen mint, with slight irregularity in the flan. |

Christian III consolidated Danish royal minting in Copenhagen during the 1550s partly to reassert crown control over coinage that had been fragmented across ecclesiastical and regional mints during the civil war known as the Count's Feud. The skilling denominations of this period were struck in billon precisely because sustained warfare and the costs of Reformation-era church restructuring had drained silver reserves. The .312 fineness reflects a deliberate policy rather than debasement by neglect.
SIEG#C3-36 is among the scarcer Copenhagen issues of the reign, with a production window of only three years.
