Beschrijving voorzijde Central field displays the crowned Danish coat of arms — a quartered shield bearing three passant lions on a field of hearts — set within a beaded inner circle. The shield is rendered in the late Renaissance heraldic style characteristic of early Christian IV coinage. The circular Latin legend surrounding the shield reads CHRISTIANVS 4 · D:G · DANIE, identifying the king by name and invoking the formula Dei Gratia (by the Grace of God). The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, typical of hammered billon coinage of this period.

Aanvullende informatie

Christian IV was elected king of Denmark and Norway in 1593 at the age of sixteen, following a regency period after his father Frederik II's death in 1588. The "Rex Electus" designation on this issue marks the precise constitutional window between his election and his formal coronation in 1596 — a distinction Danish minting authorities observed with unusual care, making this a dated series with a hard terminus. Once crowned, the title disappeared from the coinage entirely.
