| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned Danish coat of arms — a quartered shield bearing three passant lions on a field of hearts — set within a beaded inner circle. The shield is rendered in the late Renaissance heraldic style characteristic of early Christian IV coinage. The circular Latin legend surrounding the shield reads CHRISTIANVS 4 · D:G · DANIE, identifying the king by name and invoking the formula Dei Gratia (by the Grace of God). The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, typical of hammered billon coinage of this period. |
