| Obverse description | Armored half-length facing figure of King Christian III occupying the central field, depicted in three-quarter view wearing elaborately detailed plate armor with richly rendered pauldrons, gorget, and gauntlets. The king holds a scepter in his right hand and an orb in his left, both rendered with fine if somewhat crude hammered detail characteristic of mid-16th-century Danish minting. The royal visage, bearded and bare-headed, is shown emerging from the upper portion of the armored torso. A beaded inner circle frames the central design, with the Latin legend running along the outer periphery between the inner beaded border and the coin's irregular edge. |
