| Beschrijving voorzijde | Reverse trial piece struck with a plain or unfinished obverse die, presenting a heavily toned, featureless field with only a faint ghost impression of a portrait visible beneath the surface patination. The obverse bears no legible legend, inscription, or device in its finished form, consistent with its classification as a reverse trial in which only the reverse design was being evaluated. The surface displays rich iridescent toning in shades of copper, violet, and blue, indicative of the tin-brass alloy composition. This side of the piece was not intended to represent the final obverse design for circulation coinage. |
