| Descrizione del dritto |
Reverse trial piece struck with a plain or unfinished obverse die, presenting a heavily toned, featureless field with only a faint ghost impression of a portrait visible beneath the surface patination. The obverse bears no legible legend, inscription, or device in its finished form, consistent with its classification as a reverse trial in which only the reverse design was being evaluated. The surface displays rich iridescent toning in shades of copper, violet, and blue, indicative of the tin-brass alloy composition. This side of the piece was not intended to represent the final obverse design for circulation coinage. |

| Descrizione del rovescio |
A tall, slender palm tree dominates the centre of the reverse, its fronds spreading broadly across the upper field and its base surrounded by tropical ground cover and foliage. The date 1920 is positioned at mid-field, flanked on either side of the palm trunk. The legend BRITISH WEST AFRICA arcs across the upper periphery, while TWO SHILLINGS is inscribed along the lower periphery, both separated from the central design by a raised inner circle with decorative scroll terminals. The mintmark KN, denoting the Kings Norton Metal Company, appears in the legend field. The entire reverse displays vibrant iridescent toning characteristic of the tin-brass alloy. |
