| 正面描述 | Crudely hammered irregular trapezoidal planchet, cut from available silver plate during the siege of Scarborough Castle (1644-1645). The central device depicts a schematic representation of Scarborough Castle, rendered in a rough, incuse-style impression showing the keep and fortification walls. To the right of the castle device appear the denomination mark letters 'S' (shillings) and 'D' (pence) with the numerals 'II' and 'VII' indicating the value of 2 shillings and 7 pence, all struck with characteristic urgency and irregularity typical of Civil War siege coinage. Parallel grooves are visible along the upper edge of the planchet, consistent with the coin having been cut from a piece of silver plate or vessel. |
