| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse is entirely covered with dense, intricately executed Nasta'liq and Thuluth Arabic calligraphy arranged in concentric registers filling the entire field. The central legend proclaims the Shahada and the names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'a Islam, beginning with the declaration of faith in the inner field and continuing outward with the names and epithets of each Imam from Ali ibn Abi Talib to Muhammad al-Mahdi. The script is deeply struck into the silver flan, producing high-relief lettering with a characteristic Safavid aesthetic. A dotted border separates the outer marginal legend from the inner field. The overall design reflects the pronounced Shi'a devotional character of early Safavid coinage under Shah Isma'il I. |

The mint name Tabriz and the Hijri date 916 appear in the lower register, identifying the place and year of issue. A dotted border frames the outer edge of the inscription. The powerful, densely packed calligraphic composition is characteristic of early Safavid hammered silver coinage. |
