| Descrizione del dritto | Insurgent countermark of José María Liceaga applied to the obverse field of the host coin, consisting of the monogram 'J.M.L.' surmounting a cross with a small banner or pennant, the whole flanked by crossed olive branches. The countermark is crudely struck, as is typical of insurgent issues of the Mexican War of Independence period. Remnants of the host coin's original legend and design elements are visible in the field surrounding the countermark. The overall presentation reflects the improvised nature of insurgent monetary production during the 1811–1822 conflict. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse retains the design of the original host coin, most commonly a Spanish colonial 2 Reales. Visible on the example shown are the remnants of a crowned royal shield flanked by the Pillars of Hercules, with fragments of the royal legend partially legible around the periphery, including portions reading 'FERDIN VII' and 'DEI GRATIA'. The strike of the insurgent countermark has distorted portions of the reverse field. The surviving details of the host coin design are worn and partially obliterated, consistent with coins that circulated extensively before and after countermarking. |
