The "traveling mint" designation refers to the mobile minting operations established by Spanish loyalist forces during the Peninsular War, striking coins in the field as French forces under Joseph Bonaparte occupied Madrid and the major established mints. These emergency issues served the practical need of paying troops and sustaining commerce in territory under patriot control, with operations moving as the military situation shifted.
KM#464 was produced at multiple provisional mints across southern and eastern Spain between 1812 and 1814 — the specific mint of origin often determines collector premium far more than condition.
