Felipe V abdicated in favor of his son Luis I in January 1724, then reclaimed the throne seven months later when Luis died of smallpox. The disruption to Seville's minting operations during that period created inconsistencies in dies and assayer records that persist into the 1729–1730 issues. The Seville mint's output for these years falls under assayer 'J' (Juan de Mora), whose mark appears on Cal#1429 attributed pieces.
