| 裏面の説明 | A bold cross with splayed arms divides the field into four quarters, each enclosed within a curved octolobe or quatrefoil cartouche; the quarters contain alternating castles of Castile (upper left and lower right) and rampant lions of León (upper right and lower left), rendered in fine relief. The surrounding circular legend reads HISPANIARVM REX with the date 1717 positioned at the top of the coin between two rosette stops. The design is enclosed within a toothed outer border consistent with the milled production of the Segovia mint. |

Felipe V was the first Bourbon king of Spain, and his early reign was consumed by the War of the Spanish Succession — a conflict that left the treasury depleted and mint operations intermittently disrupted across the peninsula. Segovia's mint, powered by water machinery at the Casa de la Moneda along the Eresma River, was among the few facilities capable of producing milled coinage by mechanical means during this period, giving its output a consistency that hand-struck issues from other mints simply could not match.
The 1716–1729 window covers Felipe's first reign and the brief interlude of Luis I's rule in 1724, making date attribution within the Calicó range occasionally significant for type collectors.
