Reverse description Central crowned quartered shield of the Spanish Royal Arms displaying alternating castles of Castile and lions of León, with the Bourbon dynastic escutcheon at center, all surmounted by a large royal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules, each entwined with a scroll bearing the motto PLUS VLTRA. The circular legend around the periphery reads •HISPAN•ET IND•REX•Mo•2R•F•M•, denoting the king's titles, the Mexico City mint mark, denomination, and assayers' initials, all within a toothed border.
