| Descrizione del rovescio | A large plain Latin cross occupies the central field, its base resting upon a stylised floral or foliate ornament. The devotional legend IN HOC SIGNO VINCES (In This Sign You Shall Conquer) encircles the cross, reading around the full circumference of the coin. The inscription reflects the religious and political messaging associated with António I's contested reign. The strike is typical of hammered Azorean emergency coinage, with an uneven flan and variable depth of impression. A small cross pattée appears as a stop within the legend. |
