| Descrizione del dritto | The post-1994 South African coat of arms is depicted centrally in high relief, featuring a secretary bird with outstretched wings above a shield, with two crossed spears and a knobkierie behind it, and a motto ribbon inscribed with the Khoisan legend !KE E:/XARRA //KE at the base. The engraver's initials ALS appear in the lower field. Surrounding the central device, the name of the country radiates outward in all eleven official languages, arranged around the circumference of the field. The date 2003 is split either side of the coat of arms, with '20' to the left and '03' to the right. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Two African fish eagles (Haliaeetus vocifer) are depicted in a naturalistic composition filling the field: one perched on a branch to the left, facing right, rendered with finely detailed plumage; the second positioned to the right with wings spread open, as if landing or displaying. The denomination R2 is inscribed in large characters in the lower centre of the field, integrated boldly into the design. The engraver's initials CM appear in the lower left field. The overall design is rendered in a high-relief, wildlife-art style against a mirror-polished proof background. |
