Surrounding the central device, the name of the country radiates outward in all eleven official languages arranged around the field: Afrika Dzonga, Suid-Afrika, Ningizimu Afrika, Aforika Borwa, Afurika Tshipembe, Afrika Borwa, iSewula Afrika, South Africa, uMzantsi Afrika, iNingizimu Afrika, and a Khoisan-script rendering. The engraver's initials 'ALS' appear below the coat of arms.
