Reverse description The reverse presents a detailed architectural rendering of the Union Buildings in Pretoria, designed by Sir Herbert Baker and completed in 1913, depicted in high relief across the full field of the coin. The iconic domed rotunda and colonnaded wings of the building are shown from an elevated perspective, with the grand amphitheatre staircase prominently rendered in the foreground. To the upper right of the design, a bold stylised inscription reads '100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNION BUILDINGS' with the centenary dates '1913 - 2013' below, the lettering enhanced by flowing decorative flourishes in a contrasting finish. The denomination 'R2' appears within the reverse legend. The proof finish of the mirrored field contrasts sharply with the frosted architectural relief, giving the design a striking cameo effect.
