Obverse description Central device features a seated chinthe (mythical Burmese lion-dragon), depicted in profile facing left with head raised, rendered in high relief with detailed scaly body, mane, and curling tail. The creature is positioned on a ground line within an open field surrounded by Burmese script characters distributed around the periphery of the coin. A toothed (milled) border encircles the entire design. The Burmese numeral date 1232 (corresponding to 1870 CE) appears in the exergue below the chinthe.
