| 背面描述 | Central left-facing portrait bust of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, wearing a tiara and pearl necklace, set within an oval beaded frame and surrounded by a lavish arrangement of fully bloomed roses and rose buds rendered in high relief, the stems intertwining in the lower field. The circumferential legend THE QUEEN MOTHER NINETIETH BIRTHDAY arcs around the upper portion of the design, while the inscription ·ALDERNEY·TWO POUNDS· is positioned along the lower rim, separated by raised dots. The overall composition was engraved by Michael Rizzello. |

Alderney had only recently gained the right to issue its own coinage when this piece appeared — the island's autonomous currency program launched in 1989, making this among the earliest issues in that series. The Queen Mother turned 90 on August 4, 1990, and the occasion prompted commemorative strikes from several British Crown dependencies, each competing for collector attention in a crowded market.
The copper-nickel circulation version shares its specifications with the standard UK two-pound commemorative blanks of the period, sourced from the same Royal Mint supply chain.
