Issued to mark the 2002 Commonwealth Games held across Manchester, Cardiff, and other UK venues, this coin was part of a four-piece set — one for each of the home nations. The Wales piece was struck in comparatively lower numbers than the England issue, reflecting allocated mintages by nation rather than population proportion.
